Why We Have To Face Death To Be Fully Alive

Episode 122 54m

Overview

We could all use a little help figuring out life sometimes. Or even a lot of help! And when we are willing to ask for it and also ask ourselves some tough questions, we can live more deeply, openly, and joyfully. One of the big parts of digging into things that make us unhappy is thinking about the ultimate “Why?” And it really comes down to making the most of this precious life because we know death is coming eventually. This can be a scary topic, but it doesn’t have to be. In facing the idea of death myself and enlisting the help of a life coach, I’ve become happier, healthier, and more successful without fear of what comes next.

Today I’m excited to talk to my best friend and life coach, Lauren Zander, on The Doctor’s Farmacy. The pandemic of COVID-19 has got many of us thinking about death more often or in a new way. We’re now in a pandemic of fear of death because of the devastation we’ve seen from this virus. And when we think about death we think about what is unresolved in life. This is one of Lauren’s specialties—we dive into this episode talking about how facing death makes you better at facing life. She shares her key insights for addressing fear of death as well as some really special stories about helping people find resolution in a number of ways before passing.

Human evolution pushes us to constantly evaluate our experience on this planet. It’s natural to think about our purpose and fight the parts of us we aren’t content with. Lauren loves challenging clients to dig deeper into these dark places, and acknowledge that they’re part of life and always will be, so that we can use them to grow instead of hide. She explains how we can talk to ourselves in a more empowering way to learn how to “human better.” I honestly can’t say enough good things about working with Lauren and doing the hard work to take a really honest look at my life.

I hope you’ll consider doing the same to gain a different idea of life and death; this episode is a great place to start.
