Three of My Favorite Brain Boosting Recipes
What an incredible week it has been! I hope you all got a chance to tune into the Broken Brain docuseries. If you did, you know how important real, whole, unprocessed food is for the brain. Today I want to send you some of my favorite brain-boosting recipes. Hope you enjoy them!
It’s not a cliche to say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What you eat in the morning can have profound effects on your mood, energy, brain power, and more. This green machine smoothie contains green leafy veggies + healthy fats + matcha tea which all make a great start to the day.
Grilled Salmon with Cucumber Salad
Fat is actually very good for your brain. In fact, 60 percent of your brain is made up of DHA – an omega-3 fat that you get from algae and fish. My brain worked pretty well before, but embracing fat (even good saturated fats like coconut oil and MCT oil) pushed my mental clarity through the roof. One of the best sources of healthy fats? Salmon! I hope you enjoy this grilled salmon as much as I do!
Quick Cauliflower Coconut Stew
Go for slow carbs, not no carbs. Cauliflower and an ice cream sundae fall under the “carbs” category, but you know the former is healthy and the latter isn’t. Eating whole plant foods with plenty of fiber, including small amounts of beans, non-gluten whole grains, nuts and seeds, keeps toxins moving out of your body and keeps your gut bacteria healthy. A healthy gut means a healthy brain! This cauliflower coconut stew includes spices, plant foods, and healthy fats!
