You Have The Power to Change The Climate Crisis
After last month’s 1,656 page National Climate Assessment was released, it should come as no surprise to anyone that climate change is a real, urgent threat. And although we might feel helpless and hopeless at times about this crisis, we actually have the ability to contribute to the reversal of global warming. It starts with our food choices.
My guest on this week’s episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy is Paul Hawken, an environmentalist, entrepreneur, author, and activist who has dedicated his life to environmental sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment.
This week Paul shares the good news that the news won’t cover—there are real, already existing solutions to reverse global warming, we just have to prioritize them.
And we have more power than we think. In addition to choosing organic, grass-fed animal products and organic produce when we can, we can also limit food waste. 30% of food purchased ends up in the trash. So in addition to listening to this episode, I want to challenge you to minimize food waste in your own home. I do this by making WIF meals. What is WIF? It means “Whatever is in the Fridge.” You might be surprised at the beautiful creations that you make with what is left in the fridge. I love to create beautiful stir-fries and interesting salads with what’s left in my fridge.
This is just one of the many ways we can reduce food waste and reduce the burden of global warming. Check out this fascinating conversation with Paul Hawken to learn the truth about climate change and what we can do about it.
Wishing you health and happiness,
Mark Hyman, MD
