To create our highly bioavailable formulation, astaxanthin is finely dispersed in a corn starch-coated matrix of modified food starch and glucose syrup. To support product quality and shelf life, DL-alpha-tocopherol (Vitamin E) and sodium ascorbate (Vitamin C) are added as sacrificial antioxidants to protect astaxanthin from oxygen in the air. To facilitate the encapsulation process and protect capsule integrity, microcrystalline cellulose, a white inert substance derived from wood pulp, and vegetable stearate, a white inert substance derived from plants, are included. Our vegetarian capsules are made from vegetable cellulose and titanium dioxide, a naturally occurring white pigment with a long history of use in food/supplement/drug/cosmetic applications that is generally recognized as safe according to the FDA."
